Tell us the story behind starting this business:
Her Curves Lingerie Boutique was born out of frustration. I was frustrated with the retail & fashion industry because there were very limited choices when it came to lingerie & plus size women. I have friends & family who shared my frustration with not being able to find anything that was sexy, flattering and that could fit comfortably. I decided to create a space that not only fixed the frustration but also would help plus size women gain back their confidence & love themselves inside and out
What was the hardest thing you've learned about entrepreneurship?
The hardest thing I learned about entrepreneurship is not getting down on myself. Being an entrepreneur isn't instant sucess, it isn't all glitz and glamour & sometimes things don't go right; however, through all the tough times you must not get down on yourself & start second guessing. Sometimes the reset button has to be pushed that doesn't mean you failed, it just means you need to breath and reset to get everything back on track.
What about your business brings you joy?
Everything about my business brings me joy even the hard times, those are the times where who you are as a person emerges. The biggest thing that brings me joy and makes my heart smile is when that woman comes in not feeling confident at all but by the time, she leaves me she is crying tears of joy, she has more confidence in her walk and a smile like no other. she doesn't even have to buy anything, but for the simple fact that she walked into my store, and I was able to speak life into her & tell her how beautiful she is lets me know that starting & opening Her Curves Lingerie Boutique was not only a great idea but my calling.
Where do you see your business in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see Her Curves Lingerie expanding and opening more stores as well as offering more services & products to my customers.
What other businesses do you support locally? We believe community is an integral part of reaching success
I definitely support other business, some of my favorites are Curved by design, The real tea soap company, mermaid kissez, adore lashes & minks, Imme waistbeads, The Entrepreneurs marketplace, The style in you collection, & Kiara Wine that's just to name a few.
What is some advice you would give to a new entrepreneur starting a business in your industry?
My advice would be to make sure you do your research, find your target audience, don't allow anyone to talk you out of your entrepreneur dreams and have fun.
